The Engineering Research Center of Ministry of Education on Microprocessor and System (MPRC) is the pioneer of innovating indigenous microprocessor (CPU) and computer technology of China in the past decades. MPRC has developed China’s first 16-bit microprocessor with its own ISA following the top-down HW/SW co-design approach in 1999, the first microprocessor in China that features both the 16-bit and the 32-bit ISAs on a single chip in 2001, and the CPU-based System-on-Chip (SoC) product with the largest number of transistors in China, named PKUNITY-863, in 2002, etc.MPRC focuses on research directions of microprocessor design, compiler optimization, system software, SoC Design methodology and IC design.
