On June 12th, 2019, the Appointment Ceremony of Professor Silvio Micali was held in the beautiful No.5 Courtyard of Jingyuan garden, Peking University. In the ceremony participated by more than 100 faculty and students, President Hao Ping issued Professor Micali letter of appointment as Visiting Chair Professor of Peking University. 

In the acceptance speech, Professor Micali, Ford Professor of Engineering at MIT and recipient of Turing Award in 2012, stressed on the importance of global cooperation in scientific discovery and scholarly endeavor, and said: "One planet, one humanity, and one science." He will serve as an advisor to the Peking University Turing Program, spearheaded by Professor John Hopcroft in 2017, an elite program for educating and cultivating the future leaders in the new era of computing.

Following the ceremony, Professor Micali delivered a thought-provoking speech on "Proofs, Secretes, and computation."
