报告摘要(Abstract)

In this talk, I will introduce our group’s work on the foundations and applications of Human Cyber Physical Systems (HCPS) with a concrete use case in urban logistics. The main challenge for urban logistics is the lack of full stack solutions encompassing sensing, prediction, decision-making, and execution to meet the evolving real-world demands for lower cost, higher efficiency, and better user experiences. Based on our collaboration with industry partners, I will present a nationwide logistics infrastructure and HCPS research opportunities and challenges, with connections to low-cost sensing, computer vision, operations research, digital twins, human-robot interactions, and embodied AI.

主讲人简介(Bio)

Desheng Zhang is a tenured professor in the Department of Computer Science at Rutgers University and a Connection Science Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is broadly interested in mobile sensing, data science, ubiquitous computing, and cyber-physical systems (CPS), with a focus on sensing, prediction, decision-making and execution for cross-domain systems. These systems include cellular networks, Wi-Fi networks, mobile payment platforms, taxis, buses, subways, bikes, personal vehicles, electric vehicles, trucks, social networks and robots, with applications in smart cities, urban logistics, gig economy, and connected vehicles.

Desheng is an NSF CAREER awardee and the lead PI for six NSF projects, studying various system properties and applications of CPS. His research spans the equity of sociotechnical CPS, adaptability of self-evolving CPS, privacy of mobile CPS, interoperability of vehicular CPS, and safety of mobile CPS. His technical contributions have led to more than 200 papers in both premier interdisciplinary journals, such as Nature Scientific Reports, and computer science venues, including UbiComp, CIKM, KDD, MobiCom, SIGCOMM, NSDI, SenSys, ICDE, SIGSPATIAL, IPSN, ICCPS, BigData, RTSS, and ICDCS. He has been honored with nine best paper/thesis/poster awards. In 2022, he was recognized as the Rutgers Board of Trustees Research Fellow for Scholarly Excellence.
