General Information of the Program

Application Requirements
1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens;
2) Applicants must have obtained a bachelor degree and students who graduated from non-Chinese universities must hold a bachelor degree from a university accredited by the Ministry of Education of China. Applicants who are currently in their senior year in undergraduate degree programs must be on track to successfully complete all requirements before enrollment.
3) Applicants must be proficient in English. Non-native English speakers or candidates whose undergraduate education was not conducted in English are required to submit a TOEFL, GRE, or IELTS test score as proof of English proficiency. Applicants with the following scores would be considered competitive:
- TOEFL 100 + in iBT (Internet-Based TOEFL);
- Or, GRE 320 +,
- Or, IELTS 6.5 +.
4) All applicants shall be in good physical condition and carry no infectious diseases which may have a serious impact on public health, or which fall under any of the health situations prohibited by China’s Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Laws and Regulations.

Application Fee
There is a non-refundable application fee of 800 RMB or equivalent US dollars. International applicants are required to use the online payment while applying through the PKU online application system.
Department Examination
The eligibility of all the applicants will be evaluated by the Admission Committee, organized by Department of Computer Science and Technology. The committee will select qualified applicants and schedule an interview in March, 2020.
An interview is required before an applicant can be admitted, including Q&A on personal scientific research experience and research achievement, personal acknowledgement and perspective related to the research area of the program, research plan and initial career path plan. The Admission Committee will give a comprehensive evaluation for applicants and submit the admission recommendation to the Graduate School of Peking University.
Admission
After the department examination, International Students Division will declare the names of successful candidates accepted to our program via http://www.isd.pku.edu.cn. The admission letter will be posted out in late June 2020 together with other necessary documents for the visa application.
Tuition and Scholarship
The tuition fee of the Master program is RMB 50,000 Yuan per year, and RMB 150,000 Yuan in total for three years.
Admitted students are encouraged to apply for the following scholarships.
1. Chinese Government Scholarship. The scholarship application should be directed to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in the applicant’s home country. The application time is from now to April 2020 (it may vary for different countries). Please find out the application deadline for your country in advance. Part of the tuition fee and some other fees like dormitory fees, allowance and insurance can be covered if the application is successful.
2. Beijing Government Scholarship for International Students. Please contact the International Students Division at Peking University for details of this scholarship.
3. Peking University Scholarship for International Students. Please contact the International Students Division at Peking University for details of this scholarship.

Degree
Students are required to successfully complete all course work, a Master thesis and the defense of the thesis within the required time period. After meeting all above requirements and with the approval of University Degree Committee, the Master's Degree in Computer Science at Peking University will be awarded.
